Do a search at top level of the folder structure for you files. Ie search for all files ending with .mov. You should then get one window with all your files in it and you can drag and drop this into an avid bin.
Extract / SPlice in keeps the clips on the timeline rippled together
Lift/Overwrite aloows you to move them where you want
(You still need to selct the black as well as the clips, though…)
To cut in Final Cut, you just select the cutting tool and hover over your point and click
The add edit in Avid is the same as the blade in FC
